ABOUT DEPARTMENT

Electrical and Electronics is the branch of Engineering that has revolutionized the life style of humanity. It is a pace setter and a prime mover behind the transition to a technological society. The field of Electrical and Electronics Engineering encompasses all areas of human life, starting from house hold appliances, industrial Automation/ robotics, life saving medical equipments to space vehicles.

It is the branch of engineering that involves the production and usage of heat mechanical power for the design, production, and operation of machines and tools. It is one of the oldest and broadest engineering disciplines.

Aim :

The E&TC department aims to educate students to apply concepts and principles of electrical and electronics engineering to solve important technological and scientific problems, and also to train the students to practice engineering with technical skills, professionalism and social awareness. Promoting a culture of knowledge and to achieve the performance in the supply of high quality education and services. The E&TC program puts emphasis on both theory and practical applications by providing a solid background in this field. The department boasts well equipped laboratories in the area of E&TC, AC and DC Machines, Transformers, Circuit design, Control system, Signal processing, Power electronics, embedded systems, IOT, etc.


Objectives :

  1. The Department has taken up the task of developing competent Electrical & Electronics engineers of high quality, capable of facing various challenges of the power situation in the country
  2. To produce graduates who are able to apply the technical skills which they have learnt in the department in order to serve the State and National Industries. To produce graduates with the necessary background and scientific skills to work professionally in several fields in particular with IT Industries and Power sectors.
  3. To train and encourage the graduates for personal and professional success with awareness and commitment to their ethical and social responsibilities, both as individuals and in team environments.
  4. Prepare and train the graduates who are proficient of maintaining and improving their technical competence through enduring learning, including entering and succeeding in an advanced degree program in a field of Science & Technology.
  5. We are actively involved in research and published many papers in national, International Journals and Conferences by our staff and students. We incorporate stronger ethical and enterprising values in our academics to face new challenges in the area of Electrical and Electronics Engineering.

Program Outcomes :

PO 1 - Application of Engineering Knowledge: Apply knowledge of Engineering, management, mathematics and science for solving engineering problems. Analyze, plan and apply the acquired knowledge in basic sciences and mathematics in solving problems with technical, economic, environmental and social contexts.

PO 2 - Analysis of Problem: Ability to design and conduct experiments as well as to analyze and interpret experimental or collected data, simulate and fabricate circuits and systems, and make own projects utilizing the latest software tools and techniques. Design, build, and test analog & digital electronic systems for given specifications.

PO 3 - Design/development of solutions: Design a system, component, or process to meet the desired specifications, performance, and capabilities; compatible with health, safety, legal, societal, and environmental considerations.

PO 4 - Conduct investigations of complex problems: Use research-based knowledge and research methods including design of experiments, analysis and interpretation of data, and synthesis of the information to provide valid conclusions.

PO 5 - Modern tool usage: Create, select, and apply appropriate techniques, resources, and modern engineering and IT tools including prediction and modeling to complex engineering activities with an understanding of the limitations.

PO 6 - The Engineer and Society: Apply reasoning informed by contextual knowledge to assess societal, health, safety, legal, and cultural issues and the consequent responsibilities relevant to the professional engineering practice.

PO 7 - Environment and Sustainability: Understand and correctly interpret the impact of engineering solutions in global, societal, and environmental contexts and demonstrate the knowledge of a need for sustainable development.

PO 8 - Ethics: Understand ethics of life and professions and abide by them.

PO 9 - Individual and Team-work: Communicate effectively, demonstrate leadership qualities, and exhibit professional conduct in their career. Work with a multi-disciplinary team, and appreciate the role of a leader, leadership principles, and attitudes conducive to effective professional practice of Engineering.

PO 10 - Communication: Communicate and present effectively both orally and in writing, such as being able to comprehend and write effective reports and design documentation, make effective presentations and give and receive clear instructions.

PO 11 - Project management and finance: Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the engineering finance and management principles as a member and leader in a team to manage projects in multi-disciplinary environments. Apply relevant shop practices in compliance with safety policies and current regulations for engineering workplaces.

PO 12 - Life-long learning: Engage in life-long learning, demonstrate knowledge and understanding of contemporary and emerging issues relevant to their domain, demonstrate knowledge and understanding of business practices and principles of management, and understand their limitations. Develop awareness of legal consequences of engineering solutions.


Program Educational Objectives :

PEO 1 - Success in Electrical & Electronics Engineering: To provide students with the knowledge of Electrical and Electronics Engineering in particular so as to acquire the necessary skills for analysis and synthesis of problems in generation, transmission and distribution.

PEO 2 - Industrial awareness and research: To provide technical knowledge and skills to identify, comprehend and solve complex tasks in industry and research and inspire the students to become future researchers / scientists with innovative ideas.

PEO 3 - Successful employment and professional ethics: To prepare the students for successful employment in various Industrial and Government organizations, both at the National and International level, with professional competence and ethical administrative judgments and decisions so as to handle critical situations and meet deadlines.

PEO 4 - Being a leader professional and societal environment: To train the students in basic human and technical communication skills so that they may be good team-members, leaders and responsible citizens.
